Gulabo Sitabo Review

When Amitabh Bachchan and Ayushmann Khurrana, two of big names, come forward in a movie together you expect a blast, be it any genre, any setting or any plot, it is expected to be a Masterpiece.. but here Director could not use their potential to provide audience what they want, but movie is not bad at all, it is actually somewhat a good movie but is really not on level of expectations audience had...

So coming to acting performances, Everyone did great but not upto potential they carry, I mean even Shrishti Shrivastava (Known for association with TVF) is a really capable actress, she is given a decent role but not on the par she can perform, now from her onwards rest of thr main cast is a scale upwards for every member, comes Bijendra Kala who plays a lawyer, a guy capable to tickle your funny bones in any movie is given a really simple role, who is just strict to the plot doesn't add to the essence of the movie.. Then comes second lead Ayushmann Khurrana, who again is a capable actor but isn't given anything much to do except advancing the plot, well in points his way of dialogue delivery gave vibes of Hedwig from Split, actually the fault was of Director, Ayushmann nailed the characterization given to him, but still not enough to contribute in true meaning.. then Comes Vijay Raaz, I must say, except for a few points it was complete waste of talent, for a talent like Vijay raaz, it was pretty average role (Role was average, acting was not).. now the main lead Amitabh Bachchan who actually is the only one bringing slight loveability to the movie, the only thing that you can say is Excellent in this one is Amit Ji.. Although I believe it was quite easy for Amit ji to perform like that, apart from the look(that is allegedly copied from a photographer, without any credits), the role was simple, with a slight layer, the character was monotonous and one dimentional, now that is not a challenge, I believe amit ji can nail it while in sleep too, only if it had a substance to it, the character could've glorified

Now I must say that most of the things and characters are just advancing the plot and are not adding anything to the movie, it is light hearted, I get it, but all this could've even been done with a smaller cast on low budget... I admit the characterization was very well done but the plot does not give them anything, even in the end, when everything have happened to them there is no developement... But here being light hearted is not the problem the problem is that this movie could've gone in layers of innocence while dealing with greed itself... They have just touched the surface but if it was dealt throughout in a proper manner, this wouldve been miles of better....

I am disappointed in the director that a cast capable of making a Taj mehal is said to asked to make a room... It couldve been way more than this

Now I liked the dialogues, well done on that aspect, Camera Work was good, colour grading could've a bit better, BGM was solid and screenplay doesnt need mention cause it was plain and simple

A special Shoutout to the face to face confrontations between both the leads, that was well done and yes Amit ji was better in every frame while Ayushmann was good too

Rating: 5/10

  1. Nicely detailed review. I like the review more than the movie. No doubts about the acting and performances of everyone. Specially Fatto! But movie had a few disconnects. Happy blogging!
