The Man Who Knew Infinity Review

So the Movie is Based on life of a very respected Mathematician S Ramanujan... It is a biopic but subtely does a commentary on Religion and Atheism.... But it really fails as a proper movie...

First of all the man is tamil without a decent degree to get a Job but he is so fluent in English, I can't really calculate how he is so well in it and moreover his mother speaks good english too, along with his wife and every other person in India... I mean its okay maybe you were taught english very well in your childhood that you can speak very well but at least speak regional language when you are talking to one another, not some foreign language... They talking english with each other felt really uncomfortable, non-realistic and weird... But I guess that was done for easiness of English Audience but that took Authenticity...

Screenplay felt like someone was in a hurry, they were in urgency... It wasnt well developed, and speeding was not really well handled... It was really weird at moments but credits where due.. it was well at moments...

Story on one hand was really good on surface while it was just a scratch of Ramanujan's life on the other hand... It could've been a very profound story if the it had a bit more value in it from his life... Overall the story and the characterization was still okayish... A big shoutout to Jeremy Irons eho was well written throughout...

Camera Work was one thing really well done and well handled, I loved the cleanliness of Camera and movement of screen throughout... Color grading was well done as well...

Director wanted to make some Masterpiece but many of his own decisions led his movie in becoming an average watch... If some of the decisions were better it would've turned out to be a gem, cause clearly the topic have a lot of potential.. Although I dont really remember anything noteworthy in BGM Department

Acting Performances throughout were Solid especially by Jeremy Irons.. Dev Patel, is really a great and solid actor who really knows his character, you can feel what he feels throughout the movie, I loved his interactions with his wife... Jeremy Irons, a solid actor gave me vibes of "DDL's character in Phantom Thread" at points, although both characters are not quite same but still the way of potraying was very similar, he lived his character and I loved his Interactions with Dev and Toby Jones

All in all this one got solid performances but a very weak direction and Screenplay although the Subtle Commentary somehow feels complete..

5/10
